Seeds - Medicinal Sage

A guide to growing medicinal sage seeds

Step 1: Preparing the soil or pot

• Choose a wide pot with good drainage holes or a garden area with well-drained soil.
• Medicinal sage likes light, slightly sandy soil, rich in organic matter.
• If growing in the ground in the garden, mix the soil with compost to enrich it.

Step 2: Sowing

• Scatter the seeds on the surface of the soil at intervals of 2-3 cm.
• Cover the seeds with a very thin layer of soil (about 0.5 cm), as sage seeds need light to germinate.
• Water gently to maintain moisture, but avoid flooding the soil.

Step 3: Growing Conditions

• Sage loves full sun .
• Ideal growing temperature: 15-25°C.
• Soil should be kept moist but not flooded.

Stage 4: Germination and growth

• The seeds will germinate within 10-21 days.
• When the seedlings reach a height of 5-7 cm, the plants can be thinned out and a distance of 15-30 cm can be maintained between them.

Step 5: Maintenance and Harvesting

• Water regularly, but avoid overwatering.
• Sage does not require much fertilization, but you can add organic fertilizer once a month.
• Harvesting leaves can begin when the plant grows to a height of about 15 cm.
• Gently harvesting outer leaves will encourage the plant to put out more new leaves.
