Guide to Growing Mustard Leaf Seeds (Baby)

Step 1: Preparing the soil or pot

  • Choose a wide pot or garden area with well-drained soil rich in organic matter.
  • Mix compost with the soil to improve fertility and moisture.

Step 2: Sowing

  • Scatter the seeds on the surface of the soil at intervals of 2-3 cm.
  • Cover with a thin layer of soil (about 0.5 cm).
  • Water gently to maintain even moisture.

Step 3: Growing Conditions

  • Mustard leaves like full sun but can also grow in partial shade.
  • Soil should be kept moist but not flooded.
  • Ideal growing temperature: 10-25°C.

Stage 4: Germination and growth

  • The seeds will germinate within 5-10 days.
  • When the seedlings reach a height of 5-7 cm, they can be thinned, leaving a space of 5-10 cm between the plants.

Step 5: Maintenance and Harvesting

  • Moderate and regular watering to prevent drying out.
  • You can start harvesting young ("baby") leaves when they reach a length of 10-15 cm.
  • Picking the leaves encourages new growth and can last for several weeks.
