A guide to growing parsley seeds

Step 1: Preparing the soil or pot

  • Choose a deep pot with good drainage or a garden area with rich, aerated, and well-drained soil.
  • Mix compost with the soil to improve its quality and enrich it with nutrients.

Step 2: Sowing

  • It is recommended to soak the seeds in lukewarm water for 24 hours before sowing to speed up germination.
  • Scatter the seeds on the surface of the soil at intervals of 2-3 cm.
  • Cover them with a thin layer of soil (about 0.5-1 cm).
  • Water gently to maintain moisture.

Step 3: Growing Conditions

  • Parsley likes full sun but will also grow in partial shade.
  • Soil should be kept regularly moist, but not flooded.
  • Ideal growing temperature: 10-25°C.

Stage 4: Germination and growth

  • The seeds will germinate relatively slowly – usually within 14-28 days.
  • After the seedlings reach a height of 5-7 cm, they can be thinned out, leaving a space of 10-15 cm between the plants.

Step 5: Maintenance and Harvesting

  • Regular but moderate watering.
  • A gentle fertilizer once a month will help promote healthy growth.
  • When the plant reaches a height of 15 cm, you can begin to gently harvest outer leaves with scissors.
  • Regular picking will encourage new growth and prevent premature flowering.
