Guide to Growing Rocket (Arugula) Seeds

Step 1: Preparing the soil or pot

  • Choose a wide pot or garden area with well-drained soil rich in organic matter.
  • Mix compost with the soil to improve fertility.

Step 2: Sowing

  • Scatter the seeds on the surface of the soil at intervals of 2-3 cm.
  • Cover them with a thin layer of soil (about 0.5 cm).
  • Water gently to maintain constant moisture.

Step 3: Growing Conditions

  • Rocket grows well in full sun or partial shade.
  • Ideal growing temperature: 10-24°C.
  • It is important to keep the soil moist but not flooded.

Stage 4: Germination and growth

  • The seeds will germinate within 4-7 days.
  • When the seedlings reach a height of 5-7 cm, they can be thinned and a distance of 10 cm can be maintained between the plants.

Step 5: Maintenance and Harvesting

  • Moderate and regular watering will prevent bitterness in the leaves.
  • You can start harvesting leaves when they reach a length of 10-15 cm.
  • Regular picking will encourage new growth, but if the plant begins to flower, the leaves may become bitter.
